Michael Jessup Named Komen MD Executive Director

Susan G. Komen Maryland is proud to announce that it has named Michael Jessup as its new executive director. Jessup has an extensive background in nonprofit management and fundraising for healthcare organizations. Prior to joining Komen Maryland, Jessup served at CEO of the Maryland Center for the Visual and Performing Arts, where he enhanced the organization’s fundraising and programming offerings.

“We were impressed by Michael’s extensive experience in nonprofit leadership and his proven success in fundraising and program development,” says Rachel Duncan, president of Komen Maryland’s board of directors. “We are confident that he will be an asset to Komen Maryland and further Komen’s Bold Goal of reducing breast cancer deaths in the U.S. by 50% by 2026.”

In his new position, Jessup will oversee all operations, fundraising, and events for Komen Maryland, including the upcoming Baltimore Race for the Cure on October 15. The Race is consistently ranked as one of the area’s largest fundraisers and will be held at McHenry Row for the first time.

“It is an honor for me to join an organization as renowned as Susan G. Komen,” says Jessup. “Like most people, my life has been affected by loved ones who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. The work Komen Maryland has done across the state has been nothing short of life-changing for many people. I am excited to join them in the fight to end this terrible disease.”
